Joyful Mystery — The Visitation

(Luke 1:39–45)

Opening Prayer

Mary, Ark of the New Covenant,

you carried Jesus hidden within you to Elizabeth.

Teach me to carry Christ to others with humility, charity, and joy.

Amen.

Scripture

“And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?”

— Luke 1:43 (Douay-Rheims)

Seven-Senses Deep Meditation

Enter the mystery slowly. Walk with Mary.

1. Sight

You see Mary traveling through the hill country.

The road is long, uneven.

She is young, newly pregnant, yet determined.

Elizabeth’s home appears — simple, welcoming.

When Mary arrives, Elizabeth’s face lights up.

2. Hearing

You hear footsteps.

A greeting — gentle, loving.

At Mary’s voice, the child leaps in Elizabeth’s womb.

Joy bursts forth:

“Blessed art thou among women!”

Hear the joy that recognizes Christ before He is seen.

3. Smell

The scent of dust from the road.

The warmth of a lived-in home.

Life, family, expectancy.

Grace enters ordinary space.

4. Taste

The air feels full — rich with thanksgiving.

Praise is on the tongue before food is ever shared.

5. Touch

Mary embraces Elizabeth.

Two mothers, two miracles.

Feel the warmth of charity — love in motion.

6. Emotion (Interior Sense)

Elizabeth’s joy overflows.

Mary’s humility deepens.

There is no envy — only praise of God.

What joy awakens in you when Christ is welcomed?

7. Spiritual Awareness (Grace Sense)

John the Baptist leaps — sanctified in the womb.

Christ sanctifies before He speaks.

Mary teaches us:

When we carry Jesus, others are changed.

Who is God inviting you to visit — to serve — to love?

Rest in Silence

Remain with the two mothers.

Let joy rest in your soul.

Optional Closing Prayer

Mary, model of charity,

help me to bring Jesus to others without delay,

without fear, without seeking myself.

Amen.
